Hi All

I am trying to recover pictures(specifically the suspect has hidden pornographic pics in his disk). I have image of that disk and i have recovered few of the images based on the following aspects using FTK tool:
1. I am able to found some of the images under bad extension tab.
2. I have recovered some of the encrypted files(zip) which contains the images. I am able to decrypt the compressed file using the password recovery tool from the internet.
3. Also i have found some of the image files like jpeg being embedded to the doc files like .doc or .pdf files.i used the live search option of ftk here to search for the JPEG file signature.

As i am new to this field, i am suspecting that there can be many ways to hide the pics in a disk. Can somebody throw a light on some of the other common ways of hiding pics and how to recover using FTK or some other tool

Thanks & Regards
Daman

Have you performed data carving? FTK has that functionality, however there are other tools that do a better job. Scalpel is a good choice.
